Local school children donated litter pickers

Our Tenancy Team has donated litter pickers to the school children at Over Hall Community School in Winsford.

The school requested the litter pickers as part of their 'walking bus' scheme. The 'walking bus' is ran by the school and has been a huge success. A few adults, both volunteers and staff, walk around areas including the Over estate collecting primary school children along the way. The 'walking bus' has helped to improve attendance, increased socialisation amongst pupils as well as offers an opportunity for the children to do things in their local community.

The children were very enthusiastic to collect their litter pickers which will help to keep the areas around the estate clean and tidy on their walk to school. Lindsay Farini, Tenancy Support Officer, said:

"Donating the litter pickers is great for us and we were really happy to supply them. I have developed a good relationship with Over Hall Primary School, so this donation helps me communicate further with the school with any housing related enquiries. It's also a brilliant opportunity to teach children the importance of keeping their local area clean and tidy."

Anna Hopley, Safeguarding and Welfare Officer at Over Hall Community School, said:

"The children were so excited to receive the new litter pickers. They loving helping to clean up the community where they live and having a litter picker is safer then using gloves."
