Stay scam safe
We have been made aware of a scam text claiming to be from the Government about a Winter Fuel Payment. If you have received this message, please delete it, it is not from the Government and is fraud.
Fraud and scams are becoming more sophisticated.
Here are some tips for staying scam safe. If you have received any messages that don't look right, delete them.
- Always double check the sender, the bank or Gov.uk rarely send texts without being prompted first
- Never give personal or bank details
- Don’t click links you’re unsure about
- Google the number or contact details to check if they’re legit
- Don’t be afraid to report and block spam numbers
Remember that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
