Raising Aspirations

Funded by the National Lottery Reaching Communities fund the programme runs until July 2026 and supports people to progress with their lives supporting them to remove any barriers they may be facing such as debt, housing, employability skills, physical and mental health.

Participants work one to one with a mentor to create a bespoke action plan which will support them to move forward in a holistic way. Focusing on areas such as Quality of life, Self-confidence and belief, Health & Wellbeing, Financial situation, Training, employment & volunteering, and aspirations. Support is bespoke to each person and participants have input into what they do with the mentor and how they are helped, meetings are usually held fortnightly. Mentors meet with people in community venues throughout Northwich, Winsford, Helsby, Frodsham and surrounding rural areas. The programme is free to access and is open to anyone who is aged 18 and over, who can be in employment or unemployed.

The programme has been running since July 2023 and in the first year the team have supported 237 people in the community, feedback from those who have taken part has been extremely positive with one participant stating “It’s great that programmes like Raising Aspirations exist – it has been a great help to me and has given me confidence again. The up-to-date advice and support has been invaluable, the face-to-face support has been so helpful and there is a real need for this. I feel like I can go and achieve more now – thank you”
